A 6lb brown to Gary Inwards from the East Warwick. Having noticed that nymph fishing appeared to be slow, he tried lures on a slow sink line to land a 5lb rainbow by the NE boils and this decent brownie from opposite the island. Having said that, both Alf Stock and Kristian Balakowski have since had rainbows to over 6lbs on nymphs. Gary would like you to send him any images of big fish at wffceditor@hotmail.com
Andrew Green won the 2008 Fur & Feather, a pound ahead of Richard Mosek. Ideal conditions with a light North Westerly saw 35 competitors spread around Nos 4 & 5. Most areas produced, with just 11 anglers failing to catch. Best fish: a 5-4-0 rainbow to Steve Mills on his brand new 40+DI5 more>>
Harry Fox was the 2008 SEFFF Rivers Eliminator Champion, landing 19 grayling on the Lower Itchen fishery ahead of Andy Croucher (Army AA) with 15 fish, and Walthamstow members Mike Heritage - 14 fish, and dad Tony Fox - also 14 fish. Harry, Andy, Mike, and probably Tony, qualify for the 2009 Rivers National.
Fly-tying Night 2008 A good turn-out saw all levels of fly-tying demonstrated. Andrew Green tied up an Indicator Klinkhamer, Gary Inwards a T-shirt paint Black Buzzer and Black & Green Booby, while Kevin Blackwell did one of his realistic Epoxy Pin Fry imitations. Beginners were encouraged to have a go at tying the two easiest flies, both useful patterns at Walthamstow

A 6-8-0 rainbow to Kevin Blackwell on a Minkie, plus a catch of 11 fish to Frank Daley are among recent good catches. Fish still moving to dries, with fry-feeding also evident. We are still seeing a good number of club members down here, Wednesday evenings in particular.
