More fish for East Warwick

The 24th April saw over 660 rainbows go into our club water the East Warwick.  Averaging a good 2-8-0 plus, these are a good size to be cormorant-proof, and substantially bigger than the 1kg size agreed at our last meeting with Thames Water. An additional stocking of 250 brown trout is also expected (as part of a consignment that will also see 250 going into Nos 4 and 5 reservoirs). These longer lived fish are ideally suited to the East Warwick’s catch & release format, with the potential to grow into the type of 5-7lb fish that Alf Stock was fortunate to land recently (see more browns on our East Warwick Gallery>>). Next season an East Warwick season ticket will cost you £180, but with twice our normal stocking density, it remains exceptional value. (Anglian Water’s Blue catch & release season ticket, for example, is priced at £419.)

Alf Stock helps out

Stop press: 16th September saw another East Warwick stocking. This time 200-250 brownies averaging 2lb went in. These bigger fish have a far better chance of surviving the cormorants than the smaller browns that were stocked during the 2007 season. We know browns survive in the East Warwick. See our East Warwick Gallery>> for some of the best to come out recently.
