The strong East/North East winds we’d had during the week dropped to moderate on the day of the match, making for more manageable conditions all round No 4 and No 5.

   Although a good hatch of buzzers tempted some to try the floater or intermediate, most fish were caught on the DI7 or DI5 and Boobies.

   Even so, it was noticeable how the fish moved up in the water during the early afternoon, with the occasional rise evident.

   The mobile format of this competition, with anglers moving to a new section every hour, resulted in a challenging but fair event, with everyone getting a chance on the better sections.

   As it was, the ideal conditions ensured that fish were caught on most banks of the reservoirs.

   With an even more favourable weather forecast for the near future, we’re looking forward to some good imitative fly-fishing.
