Troutmasters

Walthamstow is now a Troutmasters water. We will also be sending reports into the ‘Where to Fish’ section of Trout Fisherman. Entry forms will be available in the Self-Service Permit Office. Two witnesses are required. One, a witness to the catch. The other, preferably a fishery official, a witness to the weighing.

We are hoping that members will enter Walthamstow fish into the competition. Despite it being free to enter, some will say that they don’t want a Troutmasters badge. However, by entering you are also included in a draw for a prize every month; not to mention the ‘Fish of the Month’ competition.

Clive Morgan fished the final at Grafham in 2006. Clive stated that he scooped about £150, along with prizes such as a reel, line and hip-flask for coming 4th overall, and having the biggest fish and biggest bag.

Members are reminded that only trout from reservoirs No 4 and No 5 count in Troutmasters. As discussed at the 2006 AGM, it was felt that weighing and witnessing fish was incompatible with good catch & release practice, and that it was desirable for visiting day ticket anglers on Nos 4 and 5 to be in with a chance.

It may be advisable to carry a set of scales for the weighing and witnessing of fish... and a camera. We would, of course, appreciate any photos. E-mail these to: wffceditor@hotmail.com.

Who knows, perhaps you could get your picture in Trout Fisherman?
