Final Fling 2015

Another lovely Winter’s day welcomed the anglers for the customary Final Fling, with 1,000 fish stocked into No5 the previous week. Most of the participants headed here. All swims along the West bank were soon booked up, the fishing was slow to start with, but by late morning fish had been caught along this bank.

Jim was first to land a good 3lbs fish at the back of the Island, so word soon spread that this was the marker for the day. Frank, Harry and Michael Heritage started their day on No4 with a view to getting one of the lumps we believe are in there. They caught fish, but none of any great size, and by early afternoon they had joined the rest on No5.

Kevin and Ashan, who were fishing on the first platform on the West bank, were catching fish, with Dave further along also having success. Barry, Billy and Pat, who were fishing from the corner along the Causeway, had some luck, but nothing to match the marker.

On the day fishing was fairly tough going, you had to be on the West bank to have a real chance. At the weigh-in there was a bit of excitement when Jim and Kevin weighed identical weights - 3lbs each - only for Ashan to pip them by half an ounce. Well done to Ashan, who was presented with the trophy afterwards by Dave. Roll on the new season.

A Close Call at the Weigh-in
